How To Measure
Ensure that you have thought about whether the blind is to be fitted inside or outside of the recess, as this will affect both the width and the drop of the blind. Please ensure that all measurements are accurate, as we will not accept returns due to incorrect measurements being entered.
Fitting inside the recess:
If you select that you are fitting 'Inside of the Recess’ then you need to measure the full width and height of the recess and enter these measurements, we will then make the appropriate deductions to ensure a perfect fit.
We would recommend measuring in 3 places for both the width and the drop and making note of any protrusions such as tiles or wooden rails. You should then submit the smallest of each of the 3 measurements, we recommend doing this to ensure that the blind will open and close without catching.
The blind mechanism measures 5cm in depth so we recommend you check that your recess is deep enough to fit the blind and mechanism. Also bearing in mind obstructions such as handles on windows.
Fitting outside the recess:
If you select that you are fitting 'Outside of the Recess’, then we will make the blind to the sizes that you enter with no deductions.
Measure the full width and height of the recess and add extra to the top and to each side of the width depending on how much you would like the blind to overlap the window recess. To minimise light leakage, we recommend that the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 7cm at the top and 5cm each side and to a maximum of 10cm for the best fit.
The overlap at the bottom is a matter of personal choice. Take into account obstacles such as radiators and window edges. If the window ledge protrudes, we suggest that the blind sits just on the sill.
Top Tip:
We recommend you position your blind outside the recess if the window is not level to avoid the blind catching or hanging incorrectly. Another reason for having the blind on the outside would be if your window opens inwards. If more than one blind is being fitted to a window (for example in a bay window) please measure and order the blind size, you require for each window as this may vary.
In order to supply the correct chain length to adhere to health and safety regulations (BS EN 13120:2009+A1:2014) we will need to know the installation height and blind drop. The installation height is the measurement from where the top of the blind will sit to the floor.
Operating Chains Regulations:
• The bottom loop of the chain must be at least 150cm above the floor.
• The chain loop must be secured to the wall using the safety clips provided.
• The appropriate safety labels must remain attached to both the chain loop and safety clip on purchase.
Please note that anything custom made, made to order, or cut to size is fully non-returnable so please do double check your measurements. If you require any assistance, please do contact our team by emailing hello@netcurtainsdirect.com
